Who we are

Dance Your Move is a creative journaling app and website run by Shalaka Kulkarni. Questions about privacy: shakulkarni@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your email and first name (if you give them). When you start the app we ask for your email, and optionally your first name and whether you'd like occasional news. We also note the approximate city, region and country you signed up from, based on your internet connection. We use your email to recognise your account (for example, to restore Plus on a new phone) and — only if you ticked the box — to send you occasional creative prompts and news. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Anonymous usage counts. The website and app send simple events such as "page viewed", "app opened", "note sent" or "Plus screen seen", together with a random ID created on your device, the page address, the website that referred you, and your approximate country (worked out from your internet connection, not your device's location). These are not linked to your name or email and are used only to understand how Dance Your Move is used.

Payments. If you buy Plus, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us whether a purchase is active so we can unlock Plus. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the information you give them.

Messages you send us. If you use the Contact page, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply.

What we don't collect

Your journal entries, photos, drawings, notes and screensaver slides are stored only on your own device. They are never uploaded to us. When you send a note to a friend, it goes through your own phone's sharing, messaging or email app — we don't see it.

We don't sell or share your personal information, and we don't show ads.

Free plan journal clearing

On the free plan, journal entries on your device are deleted automatically at midnight at the end of each week (your local week). On Plus they are kept, and you can download a copy of your whole journal from the Journal screen.

Where information is kept

Emails and anonymous counts are stored with our hosting provider, Netlify, in the United States. We keep your email until you ask us to delete it.

Your choices

• To stop news emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to us.
• To see, correct or delete the email we hold for you, email shakulkarni@gmail.com from that address. We'll respond within 30 days.
• To delete your journal, clear the app's data on your device or uninstall the app. Because it lives only on your device, we can't recover it for you.

Children

Dance Your Move is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect email addresses from them. If you believe a child has given us their email, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
